Langlois Culinary Crossroads

After attending a class at Langlois you will be able to serve a good Creole/Cajun dinner in your kitchen. Roll up your sleeves, put on an apron and let Chef Amy and her great staff guide you through entree - dessert. Of course, the meal is then enjoyed by the students. Langlois Culinary Crossroads is a next-generation New Orleans dining experience, combining the quality of a restaurant with the style of a cooking school. I learned so much and walked out with all the recipes in hand. Langlois offers Cajun/Creole cooking classes, culinary tours, and a retail store stocked with local products, hard-to-find cookware and gourmet to-go food. It's one of our top recommendation for the culinarily curious.

Freret Street PUBLIQ HOUSE

"New Orleans certainly has a stronghold as one of the best live music cities in America. We believe our "entertainment" culture doesn't rival, but rather surpasses that of any other in the world". You can depend on excellent performances, in this mid-size club with funky chandeliers and ample table seating. Park in front, pay a minimal cover, buy a good drink and enjoy hours of good music and dance. Don't miss my favorite, the Brass-A-Holics on Thursdays. (very near the Chimes Bed and Breakfast) See you there!

Tipitina's
Music clubs are rarely dedicated to a single musician, and few as influential as performer, composer, and pianist Professor Longhair. Henry Roeland Byrd, (a.k.a. Professor Longhair) is one of the most revered rhythm and blues musicians in the legacy of New Orleans music. Longhair created a unique style by fusing rhumba rhythms with boogie-woogie, blues and southern R&B. The club drawls large standing crowds with some balcony seating. Sunday, Cajun Fais Do Do: Tipitina's long-running weekly Cajun dance party. Hosted by the Bruce Daigrepont Band celebrating the rich Acadian culture of western Louisiana. The crowd will teach you to dance like a Cajun. It's loads of fun.
